Responsible Conduct of ResearchRCR
Required training in the ethical conduct of research: for trainees on many NSF and NIH awards.
Responsible Conduct of Research is formal instruction in research ethics: authorship, data management, mentorship, conflict of interest, and research misconduct. NSF requires RCR training for students and postdocs on its awards, and NIH requires it for trainees on training grants and certain other awards.
Institutions document who completed training and when, since it's a condition of the award for covered personnel.
Missing RCR training for covered personnel is a term-of-award violation that surfaces on audit.
