Terms of service

The service

GrantsManager helps research labs track funding, proposals, awards, budgets, personnel effort, and compliance deadlines. The service is currently offered free of charge to single labs, by invitation. Features may change as we develop the product, and we may offer paid plans in the future. We will tell you before any paid plan applies to you.

Your account

• Give accurate information and keep your password secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
• Invite only people who should have access to your lab's data, and remove people who no longer should.
• Tell us promptly at hello@seaport.studio if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.

Your data

You and your lab own the data you put into GrantsManager. You give us permission to store, process, and display it only as needed to provide and improve the service for you. You are responsible for having the right to enter the data you add, including information about lab personnel. You can ask us for an export of your data at any time. Our privacy policy explains how we handle it.

Acceptable use

Do not:

• Try to access another lab's data or another person's account.
• Test, probe, or disrupt the service's security or performance, except through responsible disclosure as described on our security page.
• Upload malware or content that you do not have the right to share.
• Use the service to break the law or the terms of your awards.
• Resell the service or copy it to build a competing product.
• Enter classified information, controlled unclassified information (CUI), protected health information (PHI), or other data whose handling rules the service is not designed to meet.

Not professional advice

GrantsManager is a tracking and planning tool. Calculations, reminders, guides, and regulatory summaries, including information about the Uniform Guidance and sponsor rules, are provided for convenience and may be incomplete or out of date. They are not legal, accounting, or financial advice. Your institution's sponsored programs office, your award terms, and the sponsor remain the authority on what is allowed. Funding opportunity data comes from Grants.gov and other public sources, and we do not guarantee its accuracy.

Availability

We work to keep the service available and your data safe, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Keep your own records of anything your institution or sponsors require.

Ending use of the service

You can stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your account and lab data. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put the service or other users at risk. If we decide to discontinue the service, we will give at least 30 days' notice so you can export your data.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost funding, profits, or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $100.

Changes to these terms

If we make material changes, we will update the date above and notify account holders by email or in the app before the changes take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.
